Pinterest Launches Interest Following

Pinterest announced a new way for users to follow specific things they’re interested in. You’ll now be able to follow specific interest like “outdoor spaces,” “urban homesteading,” “Chinese architecture,” or “healthy eating,” to name a few.

Pins related to interests that you follow will appear in your regular feed.

“For example, when you visit the ‘outdoors’ category, you’ll see related interests such as ‘ultralight backpacking’, which you can follow and get updates from that point on, in your home feed,” a Pinterest spokesperson explains. “Because interests change over time, you can unfollow at anytime.”

“Pinterest has the most comprehensive set of interests online, and this is the latest feature to help people discover, collect and act on those interests,” they said.

Indeed, this builds on a feature Pinterest launched in preview in January.

Each category now has a new selection of specialized interests, which you can follow. You can always go back to the interest to unfollow if you change your mind.

The feature should compliment Pinterest’s recent efforts in search nicely, to make it easier for users to see things they really care about.
